We are so excited to celebrate the coming birth of Min's baby girl.
Tammy has asked us to share some words of wisdom:
I came across this quote on Facebook the other night and thought is was perfect advice. So, this is what I want to share with Min and her husband.
M. Russell Ballard has
said, “A mother-daughter relationship is where a daughter learns how to nurture by being nurtured. She is loved. She is taught and experiences firsthand what it feels like to have someone care about her enough to correct her while continuing to encourage and believe in her at the same time.”
Similarly, a daughter can support her mother through service, obedience, honesty, respect and love.
Tips for Mothers
If you have a rocky relationship with your daughter, try focusing one of the following three principles.
1. Minimize Criticism
As a mother, be the one that is consistently building up rather than tearing down.
2. Give your daughter some space
Giving your daughter space to grow on her own and learn from life lessons can be one of the greatest long-term blessings in her life.
3. Remember your own mother’s lessons
There is no manual for motherhood, so many women wisely follow their own mother’s example when it comes to raising children and building a strong family. Turning to your mother for advice, or gaining strength and wisdom from her lessons can help you in raising your own children.
And, also some tips for Daughters
If you as a daughter are finding it hard to communicate with your mother, use one of the following tips to improve that relationship:
1. Involve your mom in your life
Involve your mother in simple things in your life and help her feel your love and gratitude for her years of service as your mother.
2. See your mom as she is to others
Recognize what your mother has done for others. Whether she has served in the community, cared for other family members, or established a professional reputation, don’t forget to acknowledge her accomplishments.
At the end of the day, mothers and daughters should support one another in their goals and desires. Women can have an amazing influence on one another when it’s done with charity and love, and that power should be wielded for good in the lives of others.
