Sweet Sketch Wednesday 131 and Sassy Cheryl's

I wanted to share with you today the scene that I woke up to on Saturday morning. We only got about three inches, but I love how it looks after a snow storm. It is so beautiful.  I haven't been able to go anywhere for a couple of days. I can't get up the hill because it has been a sheet of ice on the road.

I wanted to share a cake that I made this weekend for a friend, too. She wanted it to be a cake with snowflakes all over it.  It is a single, one layer cake for a wedding.  It is simple but very pretty. I used a powder glitter dust over the fondant. It give the fondant a nice sparkle to it.  She is adding a Snowman and Snow Woman in front of the three snowflakes I put on top. I hope she liked it. Her mother picked it up and then headed over to Kingman in a snowstorm.  They got married saturday afternoon.  I am anxious to here how things went and hope that they arrived safely.

And, now for our sponsor this week:
SASSY CHERYL"S
Cheryl is offering our grand prize winner a $5.00 gift Certificate.

I hope you will join us over at SWEET SKETCH WEDNESDAY. We love to see your creations.

"Santa and Little Snowey"
The papers I have used this week are from Stampin Up, Bazzell and DCWV.  I used the oval Nestibilities and trimmed the edges to make the points.  The red snowflakes are from a Martha Stewart snowflake punch.  I have used Rhinestones, Ribbon and Copics.  The sentiment is computer generated.

  1. Hi Nancy! Look at the wonderful snow - how fun! I know the coldness isn't fun and not being able to get out and about is a drag but snow has it's soothing benefits; especially for those not used to it. Love your cake! You are such a talented woman - I just know your friend enjoyed her beautiful snowflake cake. You make the most wonderful cards, Nancy. Love the papers you use and how well you color your digi's - fantastic job! I hope you can have a nice break in the holiday busy days. It'll be fun to have time with family. Hugs and love to you!

  2. Hi Nancy, I didn't realize how cold it gets in your neck of the woods. Oh waking up to snow, our local town and schools would be at a stand still if it snowed like that here. They were all so excited last winter when we got a few flakes. Your photo of the snow is beautiful. Love the Wedding Cake I wonder if they got married in the Snow??? You have been a very busy lady this week. Love your darling card is such a lovely image and your design papers are just perfect. I wouldn't have thought of cutting each scallop to form a point what a great idea!!! Take care hope everything is going well for you and it's such a busy time of year for one day but it's so nice to have all the family together.
    Take care big hugs always,

  5. Hi Nancy, I loved the way you used the shades of brown for your Santa...love the way it gives him such a rustic, different look. Your card is beautiful, as always! Your snow looks so pretty...I am thankful when I don't have to go anywhere in it! Rick worked for 35 years for the electric company in all types of weather, so he thinks nothing of getting on a snowy road. That is one gorgeous cake and such a unique theme....I love it and hope their wedding was beautiful. Your snowflakes look so fraigle and lacey, such a lovely design.
    Enjoy your week.
    Hugs, Patti

  9. Gosh I can't decide what I like more on this post Nancy - the beautiful snowy scene photo, the gorgeous and oh so yummy looking cake or your fabulous card with that darling Santa image! A feast for our eyes this week for sure! Was thinking about you this weekend when I saw the snowstorms passing through the Arizona mountains knowing you too were likely getting a loadful of snow. Hope by now you've been able to navigate your driveway and get out and about!
    Hugs,
    Sharon :)
